What is the free IQ test, and what does it measure?

An IQ test measures the so-called intelligence quotient, assigning you a score that shows how your cognitive abilities compare to others in your peer group.

Standardized tests, such as this free IQ test, contain various tasks that test your problem-solving skills, pattern recognition, prediction, and analytical abilities. As a rule, such tests are timed, and the faster you answer them correctly, the higher your IQ level.

However, even if you don’t end up with a stellar IQ score, you can always improve it by training with our puzzles and memory games in between.

IQ score distribution graph

An average IQ score is 100, with a standard deviation of 15. In other words, most people’s IQ test results fall between 85 and 115 points. That’s considered average intelligence.

Once you move away from the average, there are two extremes: low IQ (40–85) and high IQ (115–160+). However, the lower or higher you go, the rarer the score in the population.
